Day of PrayerDear Friends, The Irish celebrate a beautiful tradition each year where they set aside “A Day of National Prayer for children and young adults afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis”. Liam is now 16 and his struggles continue to be overwhelming. His physical challenges are often times overshadowed by the emotional and psychological component. The increasing hospital visits, unpredictable varice bleeds, late night 911 calls, fear of falling asleep and never waking up… Liam’s faith is what gives him strength. On August 9, 2007, Liam was given the gift of a new liver. For those who have followed Liam’s forward progress as well as his setbacks, this has been an exhausting journey. The fight is far from over as the focus of the day continues to fluxuate. Today is about gratitude for answered prayers, for continued blessings and for the sustained spirit of a young man, who continues to amaze us all with his deep faith, his perseverance and his incredible heart of gratitude. The future is in the hands of the Master, but the gift of today is in each one of our hands – let’s not miss that opportunity to just be in the moment. Please join us on November 14, 2007, for a moment, an hour or a day of prayer. We understand that your life is busy, so schedule your time whenever it is most convenient. Offer a prayer during your drive to work, rinsing the dishes after a meal, before tuning into your favorite T.V. program, when you are tucking your own children into bed or before you fall asleep. This is a great opportunity to share God’s mercy and love with others, so we encourage you to pray with your family and friends. Help us thank God for all of His wonderful blessings, for His special compassion for children afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis, and for His continued strength to be given to the families. Ask that He lend His healing power to the doctors and researchers so that the suffering will end. Please pray for Faith that God’s will be done, for continued Hope, that the cure will soon be found, and for Charity, that the donors and C.F. Foundation remain committed in their financial convictions. And most importantly, for LOVE for the children who suffer from this relentless disease, which literally suffocates them with every breath, that they will continue to carry their cross in the likeness of Jesus, with love and dedication to God’s will. During this Holiday season, we realize that there is much to be thankful for: a pound gained rather than lost; a drug strong enough to fight a difficult infection; the compassion of a nurse who has a gentle touch; a fireman whose calm demeanor diffuses the severity of the moment; the commitment of the doctors to continue to fight along with us; a young man’s smile that can light up a room…and most importantly to our family, the promise of a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. On this special day of prayer, you too will be in ours. Blessings, SAVE THE DATE: June 7, 2008 is the date for our next Fundraiser and the |
